Sliding Windows / Pocket Windows
Sliding windows (also called pocket windows) are horizontal sliding windows. These are operable windows, meaning they do open. To open a sliding window, one sash slides in a pocket past the other. The sashes glide on brass rollers to provide easy and smooth operation.
Sliding windows are a modern aesthetic and great for modern or ranch style homes. They provide substantial sunlight and open wide to provide a lot of ventilation.
The window sashes are removable and may be lifted out of the pocket for cleaning from the inside of the house. When in the locked position the sashes are secure and cannot be removed.
Two-Lite vs Three-Lite Sliders
A two lite slider is also called a two section slider. Two lite sliders have two equal size sashes. Each sash operates to allow for ventilation from either side of the unit.
A three lite slider is also called a three section slider. Three lite sliders have a fixed center sash with operable sashes on either side. The fixed center sash may be twice the width of the two operative sashes, allowing both sashes to be open at once. Alternatively, a three lite slider may be equal widths across.
